Monitoring sterilization processes is mandatory in the healthcare sector; HigieTag Type V indicators are ideal for monitoring processes performed in gravity or pre-vacuum steam sterilizers using PCDs. The color must change from pink to gray (as specified in the catalog) after the correct sterilization time; exposure to the time required to reach the target temperature within the sterilizer does not cause the indicator to shift to its final color. The color change occurs during the sterilization process and depends on all process parameters (time, pressure, and temperature), making it an excellent integrating indicator.
Designed specifically to monitor steam sterilization in gravity and pre-vacuum sterilizers, these must be used to release loads via PCD-type devices; when placed inside sterilization pouches, the indicator (pink side) must face the paper side. Position them alongside the load that is most difficult to sterilize and near the sterilizer doors and drains, as these are the areas where steam penetration is most challenging.
